Big names were up for 2014 GIFA award along with President Nazarbayev

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Chairman of the Islamic Finance Development Association Yerlan Baidaulet revealed at a press conference at KazMedia Center on Thursday that there were some huge names up for the Global Islamic Finance Award (GIFA) this year.
Earlier it was reported that President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev was declared the fourth laureate of the GIFA award in late October. Yerlan Baidaulet who attended the awarding ceremony in Dubai said that UK Prime Minister David Cameron, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak and former Prime Minister and now President of Turkey Recep Erdogan were also nominated this year. The GIFA award is presented for landmark achievements in Islamic banking and finance. "Kazakhstan has long been waiting for such recognition. We as the Islamic Finance Development Association always point out the role President Nazarbayev plays in Islamic banking and finance," Mr. Baidaulet said.
