The organizers of the boxing tournament at the Olympic Games took note of the comments and promised to look into the situation. An investigation has been launched against the judges in question.

In addition, the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan officially filed an appeal to the PBU demanding an explanation of the result of the fight between Mukhammedsabir Bazarbayuly and Lasha Guruli from Georgia in the men’s weight category up to 63.5 kg.

“The NOC of the Republic of Kazakhstan has filed an appeal against the outcome of the fight of Mukhammedsabir Bazarbayuly. We do not agree with the result and have demanded an explanation from the PBU, having also notified the IOC. In our opinion, the Kazakhstani boxer won an important fight for reaching the semi-finals of the 2024 Olympic Games. We understand that it is impossible to review the result of the past fight. However, we demand that the refereeing at the most important international competition be honest, fair and unbiased for the remaining athletes,” says the Secretary General of the NOC of Kazakhstan Zhanar Utesheva.

It is important to emphasize that this procedure will not affect the outcome of the fights. According to the regulations, the results of past fights will not be reviewed. However, judges may be suspended if errors are found in their work.

Mukhammedsabir Bazarbayuly failed to reach the semifinals of the 2024 Olympics. Boxer Aibek Oralbay also failed to reach the semifinals, losing to Loren Alfonso Dominguez of Azerbaijan in the quarterfinals.
