Best journalists awarded in Akorda presidential residence

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Secretary of State of Kazakhstan Adilbek Dzhaksybekov has awarded presidential premiums and grants to the best journalists in the Akorda presidential residence today.

The Secretary of State congratulated journalists on their oncoming professional holiday and stressed one of the key goals of domestic mass media is to strengthen patriotism and shape up single nationwide Kazakhstani identity. "Kazakhstani mass media have successfully gone through the stage of formation. In the contemporary context domestic mass media should function in line with the global trends. Information technologies, internet, and social networks change the format of news coverage and the role of mass media in the society. Kazakhstani media space should adapt in accordance with the latest trends," Secretary of State Dzhaksybekov said. "Despite all the changes that are taking place in the media space, local mass media should be committed to the basic principles - objectivity and reliability of information," he added. Editor-in-chief of Zhas Kazakh newspaper S. Smail and editor-in-chief of Vremya newspaper L. Tarakov received premiums of the President of Kazakhstan. Presidential grants went to KTK TV channel press center in Astana and a correspondent of Kazakhstan TV channel.
