Belgium's Liege province keen on close coop with Kazakhstan
The Diplomat was received by Governor of the Province Michel Foret. He also met with Director for International Cooperation of the SPI+ Economic Development Agency B. Bleron, Representative of Wallonia Foreign Trade and Investment Agency (AWEX) Mariel Germis and Administrator of the University of Liege Francois Ronday.
The parties focused on enhancement of the Kazakh-Belgian cooperation with usage of the potential of Liege which is considered to be a key province of the Kingdom due its geographical location. Liege represents a transport hub including car, railroad, air and river ways of communication.
The Belgian side was presented the content and main provisions of Path to Europe program, Kazakh President's Address to the Nation Through Crisis to Renovation and Prosperity and strategies of Kazakhstan's further development. Particular attention was given to Kazakhstan's oncoming OSCE chairmanship which coincides with the period of Belgium's work within the EU Troika in the H2 2010.
Within the trip the Ambassador visited the Centre for Space Researches (CSL) functioning under the University of Liege which unites about 85 engineers and scientists today. The major partners of the CSL are ESA and NASA as well as world known European and American industrial enterprises and laboratories as Astrium EADS (Germany, France, Great Britain), Alcatel Alenia space (France), National Space Scientific Centre of France (CNES), Amos (Belgium), University College Berkley, Naval Research Lab (USA) and others.
The heads of the Liege Centre for Space Researched expressed interest in development of coop with Kazakhstan.
