Belarusian children's oncologists to share best practices with colleagues from CIS

MINSK. August 11. KAZINFORM Belarusian children's oncologists will share their best practices with colleagues at the seventh CIS congress of oncologists and radiologists. The event will take place in Astana, Kazakhstan on 5-7 September, BelTA learned from Olga Aleinikova, Director of the Children's Oncology and Hematology Research and Practice Center.

Over 1,500 top researchers and medics will gather in the capital of Kazakhstan in order to discuss problems and prospects of developing the modern oncology. They will present results of the latest research into causes behind cancer and methods to treat the disease. They will determine priority directions for the development of the oncological service of the CIS member states.

Olga Aleinikova will head the delegation of Belarusian children's oncologists at the congress. They are busy helping organize the forum that will draw attention to problems of malignant growths in children. "Children's oncology in Belarus and Russia is well ahead of that in other CIS states. At present Belarusian medics can cure 74% of the kids, who catch cancer of any kind regardless of its progression," stressed the official.

Held every two years in a CIS state, the forum is one of the key scientific events for the CIS medical community. The forum is meant to unite efforts of the countries in their joint fight against the disease that is close to the top of the global list of death causes. Every year cancer takes 8 million human lives.

The seventh CIS congress of oncologists and radiologists will be held with support of the Healthcare Ministry of Kazakhstan, the Astana Oblast administration, the Kazakh Oncology and Radiology Research Institute, and the Kazakh Oncologists and Radiologists Society.
