The head of the diplomatic mission believes that political relations between Belarus and Vietnam are fine. The countries are building up the trade and economic cooperation at the same time. The diplomat stated that taking into account the global economic crisis the Belarusian-Vietnamese trade has reduced slightly this year. While last year it stood at $124.6 million, in January-July 2009 the figure reached $36.1 million. According to the Ambassador, it is necessary to seek new forms of cooperation in order to increase trade volume.

Vietnam is a traditional trade partner of Belarus in Asia. Since the Soviet times the two countries have maintained close friendly relations that are being actively developed now. The visit of President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to Vietnam in 2008 gave a boost to the bilateral cooperation. The leaders of the two countries determined a strategic goal for the near future - development of the trade and economic cooperation taking into account the great potential of the bilateral relations and the mutual complementarity of the economies. At present the sides are implementing the agreements outlined by top-level meetings; Kazinform refers to BelTA.
