Belarus to monitor parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan
The observation mission started its work on 11 August. It has comprised representatives of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan and Ukraine as well as the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS member states and the CIS Executive Committee. All in all, the mission lead by CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev has included 68 people.
Head of the mission headquarters Yevgeny Sloboda has met with the leadership of the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan. He stressed that the CIS election observation mission will monitor the elections independently, not interfering with the election process and observing the national legislation of Kazakhstan. The Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan stated that the mission would be provided all necessary conditions for monitoring the parliamentary elections in the country.
The parliamentary elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan will take place on 19 August.
