Top on the agenda were the preparation for the parliamentary election, in particular, its date, funding, electoral laws and a new composition of the Central Election Commission.

"We are approaching another milestone that excites a special part of our society - less than a year is left before the parliamentary elections. We thought that the last election campaign would be the peak of the tension in the country, but I see now that we were deeply wrong. I analyze all the manifestations of the public opinion and see that some people have started fomenting the tension in our society, naturally taking advantage of some thorny issues, like the financial situation, economy, etc." Alexander Lukashenko said.

Addressing Lidia Yermoshina, the President noted that he would like to hear about the key points of the preparation and conduct of the forthcoming election campaign.

"I would not consider, as some want it, radical changes to the electoral legislation. It is absolutely unacceptable in the run-up to a political campaign," the head of state said.

Lidia Yermoshina noted that the parliamentary election should take place not later than 26 September 2012. It can be held earlier, but not later than this date.

The head of state agreed with the CEC Chairperson, adding that the deadline for the parliamentary election is September 2012. Thus, according to Lidia Yermoshina, the tenure of the Parliament set out by the Constitution will almost be complete.

The parties also discussed the issues related to the formation of constituencies. The population growth in Minsk has resulted in some oversaturation of constituencies that are set up for the election to the House of Representatives. The head of state supported the CEC's proposal to leave unchanged the current layout of constituencies that corresponds to the borders of the administrative territorial divisions; Kazinform cites BelTA.
