Belarus to hold Culture Days in Kazakhstan in 2014
"Next year we will go to Kazakhstan on a return visit," the Minister said, noting that this form of cooperation between the countries will be continued.
The Days of Culture of Kazakhstan in Minsk will conclude on 9 October. A meeting of the Culture Ministers of the two countries is scheduled for 8 October. The parties plan to discuss the terms of the new agreement. "Today we will discuss what the new document should look like considering that the Eurasian Union Treaty will be signed by 1 January 2015. Now work is underway on the economic component of the document. It is time we got down to work in the field of culture, which will be an important part of the treaty. This is one of the key issues of the talks," Boris Svetlov noted.
At present, the cultural interaction between Belarus and Kazakhstan is based on the intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in culture, science and education dated 17 January 1996 and the inter-ministerial agreement on cooperation in culture and arts as of 4 November 1999.
Boris Svetlov noted that the cooperation agreements have been reached at the level of individual institutions of culture and education in culture. For example, the National Library of Belarus cooperates with the National Academic Library of Kazakhstan. The Belarusian National Art Museum and the Kasteev State Art Museum of Kazakhstan signed an agreement of cooperation for 2013-2017. Partnerships have been established between public archives and museums of the two countries, BelTA reports.
The Abai Center of the Kazakh Language, History and Culture was opened at the Belarusian National Technical University in May last year. The Belarusian Language and Culture Center was opened at the Gumilev Eurasian National University in Astana in November 2012.
A gala concert with the participation of Kazakhstani figures of art will take place at the Belarusian State Academic Theater of Music on 8 October. The concert will feature Roza Rymbayeva, Akku dance company, Sazgen Sazy folk ensemble, Ulytau folk metal band, an ensemble of dombrists Serper, as well as Honored Artists of Kazakhstan Jamilya Jarkimbayeva and Bibigul Zhanuzak.
