Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan to give joint gala at cultural diversity festival in Grodno
According to BelTA, the program of the event features at least 20 new projects, including an exhibition of Belarus, festival of martial arts, competition of strongmen. The theme of the festival will be celebration of spring. In addition, there are plans to publish a unique album of all the cultural diversity festivals held in Belarus since 1996.
Regional and Minsk city qualifiers for the festival took place from September to December 2011. During the qualifying rounds the jury (composed of specialists in various areas of arts) selected groups and individual performers for the final round in Grodno.
Belarus is home to representatives of about 140 nationalities. There are 124 public organizations of 25 nationalities. Twenty organizations have the status of international and national.
The founders of the biennial National Cultural Diversity Festival include the Culture Ministry of Belarus, the Office of the Commissioner for Religions and Nationalities, center of national cultures, Grodno Oblast Executive Committee and Grodno City Hall.
