Belarus might take over CIS Chairmanship at Moscow meeting
During today's meeting Belarus can be officially handed with the CIS Chairmanship in 2014. In March Kyiv announced the termination of its CIS Chairmanship. Moreover, Ukraine voiced the possibility of its withdrawal from the CIS and on 24 March the Verkhovna Rada registered the corresponding draft law. According to some information, Ukraine will be presented at the CIS Foreign Ministers Council meeting by representatives of its embassy.
The Council is expected to consider 18 draft documents in humanitarian activities, security and other sectors. The ministers will share opinions on the important issues of the current international and regional security.
Vladimir Makei arrived in the Russian capital on 3 April to take part in the meeting of the CSTO Foreign Ministers Council. It is expected that apart from his participation in the CIS Foreign Ministers Council Vladimir Makei will hold talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, Tajikistani Foreign Minister Sirodjidin Aslov, Speaker of the State Duma of Russia Sergei Naryshkin.
