Belarus, Kazakhstan set up Business Cooperation Council
MINSK. September 8. KAZINFORM The Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kazakhstan have established a Business Cooperation Council, BelTA learned from the press service of the BCCI.
According to BelTA, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko had signed a protocol of instructions to set up the Business Cooperation Council following a meeting with his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev. The agreement to establish the council was signed by the BCCI and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kazakhstan during the National Exhibition of Belarus in Almaty. The agreement was concluded by Deputy Chairman of the BCCI, Director General of BCCI's Gomel Regional Office Vasily Starovoitov and Vice President of the Kazakh CCI Olga Pentegova.
The parties agreed to hold a session of Belarus-Kazakhstan intergovernmental commission in Gomel on 6 October 2011 as well as the first session of the Business Cooperation Council.
The council is designed to boost cooperation between Belarusian and Kazakh businessmen, promote domestic goods on the markets of the two countries, diversify Belarus-Kazakhstan business cooperation, facilitate joint investment projects in Belarus, Kazakhstan and third countries.
"Belarus has always been and remains Kazakhstan's major economic partner. After all, the two countries are now members of the Customs Union. The council will put in a great deal of effort to deepen cooperation and forge new business links between our entrepreneurs, to promote Belarusian and Kazakh business and protect the interests of businessmen," Olga Pentegova emphasized.
According to Vasily Starovoitov, the Business Cooperation Council will give an impetus to the fruitful cooperation between the two economies, help create a favorite business climate in Belarus and Kazakhstan, provide an additional ground for constructive public-private partnership of the two countries.
