Belarus' government model may be used in Eurasian Union creation
The creation of the Eurasian Union implies the unification of political systems of its member states and, at the same time, preservation of the national identity, the expert noted. He added that the Belarusian model is attractive to many people who live in the former USSR republics.
For her part, Yelena Ponomareva, Professor of the Comparative Politics Department of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, said that the Belarusian model proved its efficiency and viability. Moreover, Russia and Kazakhstan both have achieved a lot in maintaining decent living standards and the national independence. "This experience should be taken into account when creating the Eurasian Union," she believes.
Yelena Ponomareva also noted that today's world is experiencing an economic and geopolitical crisis. "We cannot seek asylum within the national borders. We need to create brand new structures, such as the Eurasian Union, to overcome crisis," the political expert emphasized. In her opinion, it will make it possible to unite the countries' potential, overcome the crisis and come up with a new development model.
