Basic principles of Eurasian integration first proposed 17 years ago - Nazarbayev

"The basic principles and a concrete program of forming a new integration union - Eurasian union of states - were first proposed by me 17 years ago. In the 21st century the idea of ​​Eurasian integration acquires a real shape. The Eurasian Economic Community has been operating for more than 10 years. Recently there was established the Customs Union, which is the core of the future Single Economic Space we are beginning to form from January 1, 2012. Today the Eurasian idea has millions of supporters. It is seen as a great civilizing perspective. This is an opportunity for our countries to take a due place in the global world," Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said in a message to participants.

Discussion of the theoretical and practical issues of implementation of the Eurasian idea, forming a common Eurasian educational, scientific, economic and humanitarian space, developing concrete measures for implementation of the Eurasian idea are the main objectives of the forum held in Astana. In addition, event participants will share experiences of the universities of Eurasian contingent in the development of higher education.
