Ban Ki-moon: I'm confident AEF recommendations will be reflected in G20 discussions
The issues of the submission of the AEF recommendations to the G20 Summit, holding in Astana the World Anti-Crisis Conference were discussed at the informal meeting between Ban Ki-moon and representatives of the Eurasian Economic Club of Scientists. They also exchanged views on the current state of the global economy.
In general, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and senior UN officials stressed the importance and relevance of the recommendations and expressed interest in holding the World Anti-Crisis Conference.
"I want to thank the Ambassador of Kazakhstan for the presentation of very good recommendations from the V Astana Economic Forum held last month. And I'm sure they will actually be taken into account and reflected in the agenda of the discussions with the leaders of G20 in Mexico," said Ban Ki-moon.
Over 70 experts from 40 countries participated in writing the open letter with recommendations to the leaders of G20. More than 200 full recommendations were received through the virtual communication platform G-Global. The recommendations include five main areas of the Mexican presidency:
- Economic stabilization and structural reforms as the basis for economic growth and employment.
- Strengthening the financial system and development of financial integration in order to promote economic growth.
- Improving the international financial architecture in the context of globalization.
- Enhancing food security and addressing the volatility of commodity prices.
- Promoting sustainable development of green growth and combating climate change.
