Balkhash thermal power plant сonstruction to suit public opinion on environment

During the hearing public members were informed that carbon combustion technologies and equipment including gas treatment plants comply with the latest international technologies that will ensure compliance with the environmental legislation of Kazakhstan and by some measures will meet European emissions standards.

"Construction of Balkhash thermal power plant" is the largest project, it is being implemented by Samruk-Energo in collaboration with the Korean consortium of Samsung C & T and KEPCO. This plant is designed to solve problems of energy shortage and release volatility of the southern regions of Kazakhstan.

In addition, the project has a high social value. For the period of the plant construction there will be created approximately 5500 new jobs and operations will involve 970 new jobs.

Currently under way are construction and installation works regarding preparatory and priority projects, and main facilities construction documentation working out is at a terminal stage. Commissioning is scheduled for 2018.
