Bad weather cuts power supply to 234 towns in ten Ukrainian regions

The Odessa, Nikolayev, Kherson, Volyn, Kirovograd, Ternopol, Cherkassy, Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporozhye and Lugansk regions reported the electricity problem.

Thirteen flights were delayed and another two were cancelled at Kiev's Borispol Airport. Four flights from Tbilisi were delayed for almost eight hours. Two flights from Paris were cancelled. The Rovno Airport was closed because of tarmac icing.

The Veliky Burluk district of the Kharkov region announced a state of weather emergency. A passenger bus and some other vehicles stuck in snow on the Veliky Burluk - Chugunovka road in the small morning hours of Friday. There were 15 people on the bus, including minors.

In all, 20 vehicles carrying 40 people are still in the snow captivity, the ministry said. They are being supplied with hot food and water.

More than 90 vehicles were unblocked on the Mariupol - Zaporozhye road at night. The snow blanket was 2.5 meters high; Kazinform cites Itar-Tass.
