B. Sagintayev outlined priorities of Kazakhstan presiding in CIS
As B. Sagintayev noted opening the sitting of the Economic Council, Kazakhstan would try to make significant contribution to development and increase of the effectiveness of the CIS, deepening of the integration processes in the CIS and active involvement of the member-states into the decision-making process.
Besides, he outlined the priority tasks of Kazakhstan presidency. These are strengthening of trust and mutual understanding in the CIS, assistance in initiatives aimed at support of stability and security in the CIS space, deepening of trade and economic cooperation including further development of the potential of the free-trade zones. Besides, activation of cooperation in the industrial sphere, transport and communication fields, strengthening of cultural and humanitarian relations including the interaction in the sphere of science, education, sport, tourism and youth policy are also important tasks for implementation during the presidency.
"The important task for us is to ensure the fulfillment of the decision of the Council of Heads of State on announcement of the year 2015 the Year of Veterans of the Great Patriotic War and organization of the joint celebration of the 70 th anniversary of the Victory," B. Sagintayev said.
During the meeting, the members of the Economic Council of the CIS discussed and made decisions on a wide range of issues in different spheres of cooperation within the CIS framework.
"In the field of economic cooperation it is planned to direct the main efforts at implementation of the Economic Development Strategy of the CIS for 2020, development of free-trade zones in the CIS, ensuring of food security, activation of cooperation in the energy sector, transport, agricultural spheres and taking of sanitary and phytosanitary measures," B. Sagintayev told.
