Azerbaijanis accused of drug trafficking sentenced to 40 years imprisonment
The Azerbaijani Serious Crimes Court sentenced Intizar Hamidov and Rasul Faracov to 14 years imprisonment and Telman Imanov to 12 years. The criminal case on another member of this group, Adil Yusubov, was passed to another court hearing due his illness, the Court told Trend News on Aug.6.
The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry seized 40 kg of hashish, smuggled from Iran to Azerbaijan by the group.
The group members in agreement with Iranian citizens smuggled a great deal of hashish, hidden from the checkpoints, from Iran to Azerbaijan. Upon the agreement reached earlier, Iranian citizens passed the smuggled drug to Intizar Hamidov on Oct. 9, 2008. In his turn Hamidov hided it in the Mashkhan village nearby Astara region.
Hamidov passed the drug to Imanov, who sold it for $42,000 to Yusubov.
