Speaking at the second meeting of the TurkPA Commission on Legal Affairs in Baku, Asgarov said it is very important to study the legislative base and electoral system of the organization's member states.

"The main idea of this study is to use parliamentary diplomacy, which requires knowledge of the constitutions of the member states," he added.

According to the senior Azerbaijani lawmaker, TurkPA members consider the principles of democracy as a priority of their policies, Xinhua reports.

The meeting of the TurkPA Commission on Legal Affairs kicked off in Azerbaijan's capital Monday.

During the three-day meeting, senior representatives of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan will discuss details of cooperation in the legislative area among the TurkPA countries.

The TurkPA was established on Nov. 21, 2008 according to an agreement signed by the parliament speakers of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey in Istanbul.

The TurkPA chairmanship annually hands over from one country to another by means of rotation in the English alphabetical order. The organization's Secretariat is located in Baku.
