Azerbaijan’s Agriculture Minister Majnun Mammadov signed the document. Thus, Azerbaijan officially joined the multilateral platform that unites OIC member states to strengthen food security, develop sustainable agriculture, and expand international cooperation in the agrarian sector. A similar document was also signed by Uzbekistan during the ceremony.

IOFS Director General Berik Aryn, OIC Secretariat representative Noura Al-Zahrani, Kazakh Ambassador to Azerbaijan Alim Bayel, as well as representatives of international organizations and delegations participating in the forum attended the signing ceremony.

IOFS Director General Berik Aryn said expanding membership helps strengthen cooperation among member states and create effective mechanisms to respond to modern challenges in food security.

“Membership in the Islamic Organization for Food Security opens access for Azerbaijan to a wide range of international programs and initiatives, including projects on capacity building, introducing innovative solutions in the agri-food sector, developing food security management systems, and expanding regional cooperation,” the IOFS Director General said.

The Islamic Organization for Food Security was established at Kazakhstan’s initiative and began operations in 2016. Its headquarters are located in Astana. Today, it brings together countries from Asia, Africa, and the Arab world, serving as a key platform for coordinating efforts in sustainable agriculture and ensuring food security.
