Austria to install memorial to Kazakhstani soldiers who gave their lives in fight against fascism
At the initiative of the Kazakh diplomatic mission in Vienna, a national memorial plaque in the Kazakh and German languages will be installed on the territory of the former concentration camp Mauthausen, located in the Danube valley in the vicinity of the city of Linz, Upper Austria. The official opening ceremony is scheduled for the beginning of May 2010.
The diplomat also noted that together with the Boltzmann Institute and Austrian Black Cross the Kazakh Embassy searched and organized the names of Kazakhstani soldiers who died on the territory of Austria with the definition of the exact locations of their graves.
As a result of that work, a memory book will be published in Kazakh and German, with documentary materials, including photographs of military cemeteries and memorials as well as military maps of the Wehrmacht and Soviet troops showing the locations of engagement. The book presentation will be held in April at Vienna's Military History Museum.
