Austria publishes book “In Memory of Kazakhstani solders fallen in Austria in 1941-1945”
The book release dedicated to celebration of the Victory Day became a result of seven months of meticulous work of the Kazakh Embassy in Austria.
On the initiative of the Kazakh mission in Vienna there was carried out an enormous search and research work. As a result 980 names of our countrymen dead in the struggle against fascism in Austria were identified, over 200 burial places were found, a unique collection of archival documents and photo materials was gathered.
Kazakh Ambassador to Austria Yerzhan Kazykhanov, Permanent Representative to the OSCE Kairat Abdrakhmanov, Deputy Chairman of Austria Bank Erich Hampel, head of the Ludwig Boltzmann-Institute for Research on War Consequences Stefan Karner, military attaché of the Kazakh Ministry of Defense Adil Bekov delivered speeches at the presentation. They noted that this book is a duty to memory of all victims of the Great Patriotic War.
Over 120 guests - heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Austria, representatives of official, public, scientific and business circles, mass media and international organizations, including OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut - took part in the event.
The book will be officially presented in the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Astana on May 6-7.
