Auntie convicted for sexual exploitation of underage niece

The woman was arrested by the agents of the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of Internal Affairs of the Almaty region in December last year on suspicion of selling her thirteen year old niece for US $ 200 in purpose of providing sex services.

During the investigation the policemen were able to prove that the suspected offender has repeatedly used underage niece as a prostitute. The indictment order was issued under several articles of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan including "Trafficking in minors" and “Involvement of minors in prostitution." The police assigned the victim to her own mother who was at that time working in a nearby town.

The trial held in Tekeli caused a public outcry. Currently, the convicted woman is being held in the detention center of Almaty region waiting for prison transfer to a penal colony.
