At least 25 killed, 46 injured in Damascus suicide attack

DAMASCUS. January 6. KAZINFORM At least 25 people were killed and 46 injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up in the Syrian capital of Damascus on Friday, the country's state-run Sana news agency reported; Kazinform refers to RIA Novosti.

The blast apparently targeting police occured at a busy crossroads near a police headquarters in the Midan district in central Damascus shortly before the noon prayer, the report said. The explosion occured when police officers were getting out of a bus.
The Surya state TV channel aired video footage from the scene showing smashed cars and the bus, and human body parts scattered around.
This is the second terrorist attack to rock in Damascus in the past two weeks. On December 24, a total of 54 people were killed and more than 160 were injured when female suicide bombers detonated two cars laden with explosives in central Damascus; Kazinform cites RIA Novosti.
