Astronauts on intl space station to track Earth Hour from orbit

BAIKONUR. KAZINFORM - From the International Space Station (ISS) in orbit Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Tyurin has recorded a video message to earthlings, urging them to join the "Earth Hour" of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the website of the "Novosti Kosmonavtiki" reports.

World Wide Fund for Nature, lead organizer of Earth Hour, the annual lights switch off meant to demonstrate how concerted individual actions on a cumulative massive scale can reduce energy consumption, cut carbon emissions, slow down global warming and curb climate change. This year, as participants all over the world switch off their lights March 29 for Earth Hour, Mikhail Tyurin will observe the event from onboard the orbiting outpost. Earth Hour is the largest mass action in human history, which aims to raise public awareness about environmental problems. Last year the campaign joined two billion people from 150 countries.
