Astana, Vilnius agreed on closer cooperation

ASTANA. January 18. KAZINFORM Kazakh Secretary of State - Minister of Foreign Affairs Kanat Saudabayev held a telephone conversation with OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Audronius Ažubalis, the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry reported.

The Lithuanian FM thanked Kazakhstan for successful OSCE chairmanship in 2010 and expressed intention to develop the results achieved and establish closer cooperation with Kazakhstan. He said that a range of the priorities of Kazakhstan's chairmanship, especially the situation in Central Asia and firstly in Kyrgyzstan, would remain the key issues of the Lithuanian presidency in the OSCE.

K.Saudabayev congratulated his colleague on assumption of the OSCE chairmanship and inauguration of the Lithuanian presidency. He emphasized the importance of ensuring continuity and expressed readiness for constructive cooperation with Lithuania both on the bilateral basis and within the OSCE Troika. The sides discussed the issues of preparation for the traditional EU-OSCE Troika meeting.

Besides, the parties discussed the state and prospects of development of the Kazakh-Lithuanian relations. The sides agreed that the talks between presidents N.Nazarbayev and D.Grybauskaitė scheduled within the visit of the Lithuanian President to Kazakhstan this year would give a new impetus to the bilateral interaction.
