Astana to set a good example in terms of innovations for the whole country: Vice PM

Vice Prime Minister Yerbol Orynbayev shared his thoughts on Kazakh capital's potential in terms of innovations Wednesday after Nazarbayev University and Microsoft Corporation signed a cooperation agreement.

In line with the recently approved Nazarbayev University Strategy for 2013-2020, the university will form a competitive intellectual and innovative cluster. And with this cluster Astana may set a good example for the rest of the country," Mr. Orynbayev said.

In his words, the university should rely upon its own knowledge and hands-on experience of other countries while developing its intellectual cluster.

As for the future collaboration with Microsoft Co., the Kazakh politician noted it was the first company that displayed a keen interest in the creation of the intellectual and innovative cluster in Astana. The cooperation agreement was inked by President of Nazarbayev University Shigeo Katsu and General Manager of Microsoft Corporation in Kazakhstan Martin Quirke.
