«Astana Startup Weekend-2013» innovative business projects contest to be in the capital

ASTANA. May 2. KAZINFORM - From 17 to 19 of May Astana is hosting the «Astana Startup Weekend-2013» contest aimed at supporting first-time entrepreneurs and innovators.

"The main object of the event is funding domestic innovative and unique startup projects. The prize fund is KZT 1 million. The prize for the first place is KZT 500 thousand, for the second – KZT 300 thousand and for the third place – KZT 200 thousand", said Batyrbek Dautbaev, the general manager of "Astana Innovation » JSC during today's press conference,

According to him, the program states that participants are to submit their ideas within 3 days. They necessarily need to create a team, to provide a prototype product and original business plan. Domestic and foreign mentors are attracted by the event. Approximately 70 participants are registered for a startup contest involvement.

Receipt of applications will continue until May 17 on site www.asw.kz.

It should be recalled that the event will take place in Astana for the second time. In 2012 the contest drew more than 150 projects from all regions of the country. At that time victory belonged to «FlyFarm» team.
