Astana population grows by 17,500

ASTANA. KAZINFORM Population of Astana city grew by 17,500 people since the beginning of the year representing a natural increase of 8,128 and net migration of 9,432 people, according to the Astana Statistics Department.
For the most part, people living in the Akmola, South Kazakhstan and Karaganda regions move to the capital. Nationals of Uzbekistan and China top the list of those who seek permanent residency in Kazakhstan. Then come Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia, followed by Turkey, Russia and Azerbaijan.
