Astana Opera launches first International Festival 'Silk Road'

Opera and ballet stars from Italy, France, China, Russia and Kazakhstan will perform at the capital's theater. Residents and visitors will watch the performances from September 17 to October 5, the press service of the theater reported. Art lovers will watch the best performances of "Astana Opera" and the original operatic production of "La Scala" - "Tosca" opera directed by Luca Ronconi which will be offered to the audience on September 17. The play involves the Italian star cast: Tosca - Anna Pirozzi (Italy), Cavaradossi - Massimo Giordano (Italy), Scarpia - Alberto Gazale (Italy). Prokofiev's ballet "Romeo and Juliet" will be performed on September 19, Roman Mikhailov (France) will act as a Romeo and Madina Basbayeva (Kazakhstan) will play the role of Juliet. Opera of M. Tolebayev "Birzhan Sarah" will be held on September 20 with a leading soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre Ahmed Agadi (Russia) and the People's Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Tatarstan, Kazakhstan State Prize winner Nurzhamal Usenbayeva (Kazakhstan).
