Astana mayor met with Russian, U.S. ambassadors

Mayor Dzhaksybekov thanked ambassador Bocharnikov for his personal contribution to the public life of the Kazakh capital and constructive cooperation in organization of joint events. "The presidents of our countries opened the new page in history of our bilateral relations in May 2014. The Treaty establishing the Eurasian Economic Union inked by Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus will open vast opportunities and prospects for even closer and more fruitful cooperation between our nations," the mayor of Astana said. The sides expressed confidence that friendly relations between Astana and Moscow will further deepen and expand. It is worth mentioning that Astana closely cooperates with many Russian cities and regions, namely Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kazan and Ufa. The same day Adilbek Dzhaksybekov had a meeting with Chargé d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Astana John Ordway. At the meeting, the mayor pointed out the role the heads of our countries play in strengthening of relations between Kazakhstan and the U.S. He also talked about upcoming social and economic reforms that will be carried in the Kazakh capital in the context of the State-of-the-Nation Address "Nurly zhol" (Path to the future) delivered by President Nursultan Nazarbayev on November 11. John Ordway, in turn, stressed he is impressed with how fast Astana is growing and expressed interest of American ecological companies in joint projects in Astana. Preparations for the EXPO-2017 event in Astana were also touched upon at the meeting with the American diplomat.
