Astana Mayor meets Governor of Riga

The meeting noted the similarities between the two capitals and countries. According to N.Ushakov the major part of the population in Latvia is involved in the services sector which is 70% of gross domestic product. "Kazakhstan considers Latvia as a very important partner in the Baltic region. It is a beautiful country with good opportunities," said I.Tasmagambetov. In turn N.Ushakov expressed readiness to cooperate with Astana. He emphasized that Latvia is interested in Kazakhstan's experience in the field of construction and tourism. Diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Latvia were established in December 1992. During the first half of 2014 the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Latvia amounted to USDE 155.6 million.
