"The share of livestock in the agricultural GDP is 43%, and it fully meets our internal demands", K. Massimov said. He noted that Kazakhstan would continue to follow the recommendations of the OIE in animal disease control and ensuring the safety of livestock products.
The conference is devoted to the elaboration of proposals to strengthen the position of veterinary services of the OIE member states, improve the efficiency of veterinary border control and develop cooperation in early prevention and response in case of particularly dangerous animal diseases.
107 delegates from 44 European, CIS and Baltic states and 22 international organizations are taking part in the event. They discuss the updated version of the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, the current epizootic situation on transboundary diseases in Kazakhstan and in the world.
For the first time ever the conference is held in Kazakhstan at the initiative of Agriculture Ministry. Kazakhstan has been a member of the OIE since 1995.
