Astana hospital conducts living-related transplantation

ASTANA. December 13. KAZINFORM - Today there has been completed a 3-day workshop for gastroenterologists, hepatologists, nephrologists, surgeons and transplantologists themed "Current issues in the field of nephrology and hepatology: management of patients with end-stage liver and kidney diseases and living-related transplantation".

The master class included surgeries on liver and kidney transplantation under the supervision of the specialists from N.V. Sklifosovsky Scientific Research Institute of First Aid.

In the republic about 7000 people are in need of organ transplantations. Since the beginning of the current year the country produced 55 kidney transplants from donors. Today in Kazakhstan 8 clinics conduct organ transplantation.

Hospital number 1 is the first in-patient facility of Astana city which develops transplantation in Kazakhstan. This is the second transplantation carried out in the hospital, the first surgery was done in February 2012. Now the patient and the recipient feel great and continue life worth living.
