Astana holds press conference on Geneva Conventions

The Conventions laid foundation for the contemporary humanitarian law. To date 194 states, i.e. almost all countries of the world, joined the Geneva Conventions.

According to director of the department for preventive and information programs in Central Asia of the International Red Cross Committee's delegation in Central Asia R. Foster, the organization has its office in Almaty, and in future it plans to move to Astana. Activity of the International Red Cross Committee in Kazakhstan includes holding of consultations of state bodies on the issues of legislation and legal acts, visiting of penal institutions, holding of juristic and educational programs. In the educational sphere the ICRC representation cooperates with the Eurasian National Gumilyov University and Kazakh State Law University.
