Astana enjoys baby boom

ASTANA. February 19. KAZINFORM Astana's population is at its highest thanks to a baby boom and increased migration.
Since 2012, Astana's population has increased from 735 258 to 770 423 people, according to astana.kz.
The majority of Astana residents live in Almaty district - 363 575 (46.7%) people; Saryarka district is the second in terms of population - 311 791 (40.1%) people and Yessil district is the least populated with only 102 717 (13.2%) people.
The biggest factor in the turnaround has been the recent birth rate in the Kazakh capital. The number of children born in Astana in 2012 has amounted to 19 434. That means the birth rate has increased for 8.2% over the last year.
