Astana city characterizes the strong nation - Honorary member of the Council of Europe Paul Wille
During the conversation with Kazakh mass media, Senator of Belgium, honorary member of the Council of Europe, Paul Wille shared his opinion of the city development and his view on the Kazakh Leader's contribution to Astana city formation.
Mr. Wille you have been in Astana for several times. What is your impression of our capital's development?
A strong-willed decision of the very strong person - your President Nursultan Nazarbayev was needed to create a city like Astana.
The city is organized harmoniously. The city's architecture is an example for the whole world. The capital offers opportunities for expansion and improvement of the citizens' welfare. Astana is one of the cities where I feel right at home. This is a city of the world rank. It reflects the character of the strong nation.
You've mentioned the contribution of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Astana creation. In your opinion, what is its role in the development of the country?
Your president conducts competent policy with the support of the population of Kazakhstan. Look at the results of such policy. Currently, the international community has recognized President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev as the world leader. The Kazakh Leader is always in the focus, especially where it is necessary to make important decisions. Look at the role he plays as a regional leader. Concerning the global financial crisis, Nursultan Nazarbayev makes a very deliberate policy. In many countries of the world leaders do not know how to get out of the financial crisis, as they can not understand what are its main reasons.
I also want to say that in the history of independent Kazakhstan, I haven't noticed any inactive periods . Your country is developing all the time, rising to a higher level. The great credit goes to your Leader.
In your opinion, how do relations between Kazakhstan and Belgium and the European Union develop?
The Kazakh-Belgian bilateral relations have developed from year to year. We have excellent contacts. With regard to relations with the European Union, we have many areas, where we can cooperate successfully and has much to offer each other.
It is always usefull to have a partner that is constantly evolving. Kazakhtan is progressing faster than Europe. Europe has serious problems and is engaged in solving them. I'm sure a lot of time is required to deal with them.
By the way, Belgium and Europe in general, are lucky to have such partner as Kazakhstan/ We cooperate for the benefit of each other.
