Astana candidacy for EXPO 2017 discussed in Lisbon

ASTANA. March 11. KAZINFORM Lisbon hosted Kazakhstan-Portuguese inter-foreign ministry consultations, press service of Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs.

During the negotiations Kazakh Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs A. Volkov considered the issues of bilateral political, economic and cultural humanitarian relations development and also the cooperation within the international organizations. Special attention was paid to the support of Astana candidacy for holding "EXPO- 2017."

The sides discussed the preparation of the official visit of Portugal Minister of State - Minister for Foreign Affairs Paulo Portas to Kazakhstan.

Portugal Director General for Foreign Policy Rui Macieira praised the foreign policy initiatives of Kazakhstan and noted the dynamic character of Kazakhstan economic development.

Lisbon expressed wish to further support Kazakhstan at the international scene and indicated a serious attitude to the bilateral economic cooperation.

The Portuguese side was handed a brochure issued by the Embassy with the text of President's Address to the people of Kazakhstan in Portuguese, explained the main aspects of this document and priorities of development of Kazakhstan in the coming years.
