Astana became main megapolis of our country - President

ASTANA. July 4. KAZINFORM /Kanat Kulshmanov/ "Astana became the main megapolis of our country", President N.Nazarbayev has said launching celebrations devoted to the 12th anniversary of Astana today.
"We presented our capital city to the world in 1998. I believe that Astana residents can see city's getting prettier every day", the Head of the State said.
N.Nazarbayev noted that 50 thousand hectares of forest were planted around the city and 6 thousand hectares - in the city.
"Astana became the main city of our country, the meeting place for international conferences, economic forums, the place of holding the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, the place of stability of our state", the Head of the State said.
The President informed that the GDP of the city exceeded KZT 1 trln 300 mln increasing 20 times. Industrial production increased 9 times, investments to the city - 18 times.
