Asian Games Torch Relay started in Taldykorgan

Governor of Almaty region Serik Umbetov delivered a welcome speech at the stadium of the Zhetysusky State University named after I.Zhansugurov. Afterwards head of the coordination center of the Asian Games Torch Relay Sarsen Kuranbek handed over the Asian Games Flame to the governor.

Serik Umbetov carried the Torch for 100 meters and handed over the baton to regional deputy governor Ansar Musakhanov.

Almaty region is unique for its multinational population - representatives of over 103 nationalities live there. In this regard, the Torch Relay reflects the idea of people's friendship that is the main achievement of independent Kazakhstan.

Olympic bronze medalist Maulen Mamyrov will finish the first stage of the relay. He will light the cauldron at the Central Stadium. A gala-concert will be held there as well.
