ASEM 8 Summit in Brussels to gather over 40 countries' leaders
The Forum scheduled for October 4-5 will gather the senior officials from more than 40 countries producing over 60% of world's gross domestic product and providing about two third of world trade.
The participants of the Summit are expected to debate the most efficient ways of global financial and economic management. Besides, issues connected with fighting terrorism and organized crime, prevention of piracy, proliferation of mass destruction weapons and their delivery are planned to be discussed. The leaders of the countries and organizations will exchange views on regional mechanisms of cooperation and integration as well as the situations in Iran, Afghanistan, North Korea, Myanmar and Middle East.
Asia-Europe Forum was founded in 1996 for holding a regular political, economic and cultural dialogue between two continents and development of common recommendations on global problems. Currently ASEM unites 45 countries, the Secretariat of ASEAN and the European Commission.
