'Being members of the Customs Union we will join the WTO separately. It does not contradict anything. There can be many unions but there is only one WTO', D. Medvedev said.

President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso noted that Russia may join the WTO being a member of the Customs Union. 'We hope that the other members of the Union (Kazakhstan and Belarus) will join the Organization soon too. They do not have to do it at the same time, they can do it when they want', the Head of the EC said.

It should be reminded Russia completed negotiations on joining the WTO. On the threshold of the EU-Russia Summit the memorandum on mutual understanding was signed.

As was earlier informed Kazakhstan plans to have completed negotiations on joining the WTO by the yearend.
