ARGANAT’s stone figures

Arganat's stone figures are turkic monuments, located on Myk, Dombauyl, Ayyrshoky hills of Arganat mountain in Ulytau municipality, Karaganda region.

Central Kazakhstan archeological expedition headed by academician-scientist A.H Margulan studied Arganat's stone figures in 1950.

The excavations discovered the bones of animals, horse utensils, some household objects and traces of fireplaces. The figures carved out of stone, setting their faces to the East. Most of the monuments were destroyed.

On the mountainside Myk two figures, carved in gray granite, which locals call "Two batir" were found. The height of the first figures is 1.5 meter, width is 0,4 meters. The figure preserved reliefs face, beard, big eyes, long whiskers and limbs. In his right hand is a dish for water, on the left is a sword. The second figure was situated 200 meters from the first, its height is 2.1 meters, width -0, 58 meter. Both figures refer to VI-VIII centuries.

On Tulpartas spurs of Arganat Mountains, the figure of a young woman from the granite was found. It's height is 1.25 meters, width is 0,35 meters dates back to  the VIII-XII centuries.

Similar stone figures were found in Bayanaul, Karkaraly in Zhetysu, along the river Atasu.
