Approaches to energy audit were discussed at UNDP seminar

ASTANA. May 2. KAZINFORM European and Kazakhstani approaches to conduct energy audit of residential buildings are discussed at the "Energy efficiency in residential buildings: from legal framework to energy auditing methodology" seminar, organized by the UNDP/GEF project on energy-efficient construction in close cooperation with Kazakhstan Housing and Utilities Reform Centre and Norwegian company ENSI.

Today the topicality of the competent energy auditing of residential buildings is high enough, since the calculations of the energy inspection serve as the baseline for elaborating measures on energy saving and energy efficiency, the UNDP's press service reports.

"Ministry of Industry and New Technologies, as an authorized body, creates qualitative legislative basis to ensure market transparency and clarity for the market players. This base should never interfere with the development of energy saving sector, and energy audit is an integral part of it",  said A. Kabylbay, head of the energy-saving and energy efficiency unit at the Kazakh Ministry of Industry and New Technologies in his welcoming speech.

The seminar was attended by more than 50 energy audit specialists of the Kazakhstani companies from all the regions of the country, representatives of the technical higher education institutions of Kazakhstan as well as public officers, dealing with the issues of energy efficiency and energy saving in the residential sector of the country. In the course of the seminar the participants got acquainted with the European best practices in formation of the energy efficiency base, development of energy audit methodology and building certification, as well as discussed the applicability of the EU experience for the Kazakhstani realia.  

Norwegian, Russian and Kazakhstani experts presented the practical aspects of the instruments usage in the course of energy audit, touched upon the thermo technical calculations, normative base, etc. An important result of the seminar was the list of recommendations for improving Kazakhstan energy audit methodology, which were developed by the seminar participants in the course of discussion.
