Another corruption-related scandal rocks Karaganda city

KARAGANDA. KAZINFORM - Deputy Director General of Kazakhstanskaya promyshlennaya korporatsiya LLP (Kazakhstani industrial corporation) Alzhan Akmoldayev has been arrested in Karaganda.
A court of Karaganda city sanctioned the arrest of Akmoldayev who had allegedly embezzled a large sum of money. It is believed that Akmoldayev pocketed great sum of money during the construction of an industrial park in Karaganda city. At this stage of investigation, the financial police didn't comment on the exact sum of money embezzled by Akmoldayev. He was arrested for two months. Akmoldayev's spouse and children are currently in the U.S. His case is not the first corruption-related scandal to rock Karaganda region. Earlier this month former governor of the region Serik Akhmetov and other officials were charged with embezzling as well.
