American documentary film showcase completed
Alexandru Rotaru, the director of Kids with Cameras, the featured documentary film about artistic children with autism, and Diane Carson, an expert veteran film expert and critic, traveled to Kazakhstan to support the Documentary Showcase in each city, the US Diplomatic Mission to Kazakhstan said.
The six American documentaries were shown as part of the annual International Eurasian Film Festival in Almaty along with films from many other countries. The topics discussed in the documentaries also included freedom of speech, stress disorders of war veterans, and the Peace Corps. Audience members were able to engage in discussions with the American filmmakers after each screening.
The film experts conducted master classes with film students in all cities and noted the importance of documentaries in raising social issues. The U.S. Embassy in Kazakhstan extends its sincere gratitude to its partners in all cities, namely, the International Eurasian Film Festival, Kazakhfilm and KinoPark for their much appreciated contributions to the Showcase.
