Almaty takes up IMO-2010 torch

ALMATY. October 23. KAZINFORM /Yekaterina Ionova/ The Zhautykov Republican Specialized Physics-Mathematics boarding-school for gifted children has taken the torch of the 51st International Mathematical Olympiad IMO-2010.
The IMO Flag firstly arrived from Germany at Bobek School, after the Republican Physics-Mathematics boarding-school the flag will move to Taraz.
The International Mathematical Olympiad is a grandiose event with 50-year history. It is the most prestigious and global scale intellectual competition of young mathematicians.
As earlier reported, the IMO-2010 will take place in Astana on July 6-14. About 600 participants and 300 leaders of teams from 110 countries of the world will gather in our country.
For the first the IMO will be held on the CIS territory. The decision on giving Kazakhstan permission to hold it in Astana was taken by the international jury in 2007.
