Almaty celebrates May 1st holiday

ALMATY. May 1. KAZINFORM /Yekaterina Ionova/ "For the first time we celebrate the May 1st holiday in an another format. Mass marches and patriotic actions are organized across Almaty city. Today we celebrate the holiday which symbolizes peace, people's unity, diversity of cultures and their mutual enrichment. With all my heart I congratulate you on this wonderful day!", Mayor of Almaty Akhmetzhan Yessimov said addressing the citizens.
According to Yessimov, representatives of more than 120 ethnic groups and 40 confessions are living in peace in Kazakhstan.
Festive events dedicated to celebration of the holiday are on at Astana square. Sportsmen, public figures and honorary citizens of Almaty are attending them.
