All eyes on preschool education in Astana as 12 new kindergartens to be opened

ASTANA. August 22. KAZINFORM 12 new nursery schools for 2 800 children are being built in the capital of Kazakhstan - Astana, the municipal education department told astana.kz. web portal.

Within the framework of the Balapan program, six public nursery schools, eight private and two mini-centers are to be opened for 2 600 little residents of Astana this year. In addition, there are 139 functioning preschool institutions in the city, including 76 public and 60 private kindergartens.
Over the last five years the network of preschool institutions in the Kazakh capital has more than doubled (only 56 preschool institutions in 2007). Only half of children of preschool age are covered by these institutions in Astana.
